Comic Strip Collections:
These books were originally published in newspapers, back when they gave more time to comics. (^-^)
For Better or For Worse by Lynn Johnston:
A strip about the Patterson family, living in a fictional town in Canada. Real life issues are dealt with in a realistic way; ranging from the coming of age of a teenager
into adulthood, death of a pet (make sure you have tissues handy for that one), coming out to parents, and theft from an employer. Highly recommended for those that are not necessarily looking for laughs, although it can be very funny at times. We only have a couple of books, but many more can be ordered through the Mid Hudson system from our homepage. Here is what we own:
Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson:
One of my personal favorites, these were published from 1985 to 1995. This was a comedy strip about a young boy and his stuffed tiger, who would seem to "magically" become real when just Calvin was around. The strip was pretty ambiguous as to whether it was Calvin's imagination, or if Hobbes really did come to life.
These are the printed books. * denotes what Plattekill owns. Highly recommended for split your gut open laughs.
Dilbert: (Especially for disgruntled office workers!)
Other comic strips that are recommended are Foxtrot, Get Fuzzy, Cathy, and many others.
